Please note: traffic statistics are influenced by factors such as weather, holiday traffic fluctuations and events like the Celebration of Light fireworks.
The City will continue the monitoring for the duration of the trial and present the results on a regular basis. The statistics collected will help City Council decide on the success of the trial and whether it will continue beyond a trial phase.

This is a 25 per cent increase in cyclists crossing the bridge during the trial than before the trial.

Monitoring program
The bike lane trial on the Burrard Bridge is being monitored by mechanical counters as well as first-hand observation by staff.
Trip times between downtown and Kitsilano are being measured several times a day by Engineering staff.
The current results and figures are influenced by factors such as weather, summer holidays and use of the bridge during events such as fireworks. Monitoring over a longer time period will also provide a more accurate comparison.

Prior to trial - survey of Metro Vancouver residents
In June 2009, Mustel Group Market Research conducted a telephone survey of 502 adults in the Metro Vancouver area regarding the Burrard Bridge. At that time, more than half of those surveyed were aware of the potential changes to the bridge. In total, 83 per cent of those surveyed had traveled across the bridge by car in May to June 2009. The majority of those crossing the bridge were Vancouver residents, with North Shore residents coming up second.
