Why recycle food scraps?
About 35 per cent of household garbage is made up of compostable food scraps. By recycling food scraps, we create valuable compost, cuts greenhouse gases and divert tonnes of organic waste out of the landfill.
Your participation is key to Vancouver becoming the greenest city in the world by 2020.

The pilot program started in fall 2011. All food scraps (fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy, bread, cereal products and food-soiled paper) are now allowed in selected areas.
