Burrard Bridge and Pacific Street Intersection Upgrades: past updates
We released details on means-prevention fencing that was designed in consultation with stakeholder groups.
August – September 2015
We organized a panel to further assess the design of the means-prevention (suicide) measures.
The panel included representatives from these stakeholder groups:
- Vancouver Heritage Commission
- The Heritage Foundation
- Heritage Vancouver Society
- Active Transportation Policy Council
- Urban Design Panel
- Vancouver Coastal Health
- BC Crisis Centre
- Vancouver Police Department
- Film and television industry
Through four workshops, the panel discussed options ranging from netting to various fencing options, and helped develop the final design for the means prevention.
Council approved the proposed updates on July 22.
Council also asked staff to work with stakeholders to further refine the design of means-prevention fencing and minimize local impacts.
We asked what you thought of the design proposal in an online questionnaire from June 6 to 23. Thank you to everyone who completed our questionnaire. Your feedback will help us refine the design before we present it to Council this summer. We're analyzing your feedback and will provide a summary of the results after.
We held two open houses on June 6 and 16 for you to view the project design proposal, give feedback, ask questions, and meet the project team.
