Buffer

A buffer is a geographic area that is temporarily defined by the user. Buffers are used to identify information or other objects that fall within a certain distance of selected objects, often for reporting purposes. Example: You may want to define a 1km buffer around a specified site and report on how many fire halls fall within that 1km radius.
