When the view is zoomed out, Vancouver's zoning is displayed thematically using generalized categories. Colour is used to identify each category which are:

  1. CD-1 districts
  2. Historic districts
  3. Industrial districts
  4. Commercial districts
  5. Multiple family districts
  6. Two family districts
  7. One family districts
  8. Limited agricultural districts

Each of these thematic areas is composed of a series of individual zoning districts. For instance, "Industrial" includes the MC-1, M-1, M-1A, M-1B, M-2, IC-1, IC-2, IC-3 I-1, I-2 and I-3 districts. These individual districts become visible when as one zooms in closer.
