Capital plan borrowing
Capital plan borrowing questions are printed on the back of the ballot. This is where voters can decide whether to authorize the City to borrow money for major construction projects over the next 3 years. Each proposed project and the amount it will cost is listed. Examples of Capital Plan expenditures are: water pipes and sidewalks, libraries and community centres, streets and bridges, fire halls, affordable housing, city parks and street trees, vehicles, technology, and a range of social and cultural facilities.

From time to time, the City holds votes on other questions that require the assent of the electors. For example, there was a vote in 2003 on Vancouver's participation in hosting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
