Bob Kasting believes that as an independent Mayor, his business expertise, collaborative approach, and independence from special interest groups will benefit the people of Vancouver.
He sees the role as that of steward and visionary, believing that Vancouver belongs to the citizens who LIVE here, not to profiteers who don't. Bob is dedicated to Vancouverites and to their future generations.
A lawyer and litigator for 35+ years, Bob served in the Department Of Justice of the Northwest Territories, was Director of the BC Legal Services Society, on the Board of two northern land claims, and a member of BC’s Property Assessment Appeal Board. Bob was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at UBC and BCIT, and was member, then chair, of the University Endowment Lands Council.
An Olympic bronze medallist in swimming (Munich,1972), Bob was a member of the Organizing Committee of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games and the 1990 Winter Arctic Games. He's a proud father of five children, and an avid sportsman, still swimming several times weekly.
