Motorcycle and scooter parking: considering the options

Encouraging the use of environmentally friendly forms of transportation is an important part of the City’s transportation plan. Currently, we have 42 metered spaces on Vancouver streets reserved for motorcycles and scooters. Several of the City’s EasyPark lots also provide scooter and motorcycle parking at a reduced rate.

We’re now looking at ways to expand motorcycle and scooter parking opportunities and we want your feedback on the following options:

Free parking areas: Would designate the space between a crosswalk and the last-metered parking spot on a street as an area where pedal-assisted scooters, limited-speed motorcycles/scooters and zero-emission scooters could park for free.

Reduced parking meter rates and multiple vehicles in spots: Scooter and motorcycle drivers would get a discount on meter parking when using the pay-by-phone system, and more than one motorcycle or scooter could park within each metered spot.

Share your thoughts about Vancouver's first open data catalogue

The City has launched its first open data website as part of its commitment to enhancing citizen engagement, fostering digital innovation and improving service delivery.

As a first step, it is focusing on providing geospatial data — data used to build VanMap. Over time, this data catalogue will continue to grow as more types of data is added in a greater variety of formats.
