You can report the following non-emergency situations if they happen in Vancouver and there is no element of violence.
How can I check the status of my Online Crime Report?
Contact Information - Prior to receiving an incident number
If you have submitted a report, you should have received an Online Reference Number via the email address that you provided to us.
You should also receive an email with a police file number within 48 hours of your submission.
If we have not contacted you after two days (either by phone or email), you may send an inquiry to mailto:Ops.Support@Vpd.ca. Please include your name, date of the report, and Online Reference Number.
We value your time, so we ask that you not complete another report for the same incident unless asked to do so by our staff.
Adding Information / Property to Your Online Crime Report
You can add information to your report by email: mailto:vpdtranscriptionsupport@vpd.ca.
How does Online Crime Reporting work?
The report that you are submitting will be reviewed by our staff to determine what resources will be required to address the needs of your submission. Upon review, the information will either be entered into our records management system or you will be contacted by one of our police officers for additional follow-up. A Vancouver Police incident number will be generated that can be used for an ICBC or insurance claim.
If you or your insurance company require this report, you can obtain a copy of this report by following the directions on
our website.
How fast will my Online Crime Report be processed?
Your report will be reviewed within 24 hours and you should receive an email response with a Vancouver Police file number within 48 hours. If additional resources are needed to address the reported crime, a police officer may contact you for additional information.
I have video surveillance of the offence. Will someone be collecting it from me?
Your report will be reviewed within 24 hours and you should receive an email response with a Vancouver Police file number within 48 hours. If additional resources are needed to address the reported crime, a police officer may contact you for additional information. Not all video will be collected by our officers. Video will be collected on a priority basis, with those capturing a clear image of the suspect AND the entire offence being collected first.
