Jericho Lands Planning Program

This comprehensive planning program will help us create a policy statement to guide the future development of the Jericho Lands.

The program is being developed at the request of the Jericho Lands owners, a joint venture partnership between the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh (MST) Partnership, and Canada Lands Company (CLC).

About the Jericho Lands

The Jericho Lands are a 36-hectare (90 acre) area in Vancouver’s West Point Grey neighbourhood bounded by W 4th Ave, Highbury St, W 8th Ave, and Discovery St.

The site is within the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (MST) and owned by the MST Nations and Canada Land Company (CLC).

What's happening

Launch of planning program

On March 2 and 7, we co-hosted a welcome ceremony and open houses with the MST Partnership and CLC.

The events signified the launch of a two year comprehensive planning process to create a policy statement for the Jericho Lands.

We shared an overview of the planning process and roles, City policies and objectives, background information, next steps, and information on the cultural significance of the site, partner profiles, and aspirations of the proponent team. City staff and representatives from the MST Partnership and CLC were also present to answer questions.

We also asked you to share your vision and to help shape the future of the site. Your input will help us develop draft guiding principles for the future policy statement.

Online survey: Tell us what you think

Your input is important to shaping the future of the Jericho Lands and helping us develop principles for the future policy statement. Take a few minutes to read the open house information displays below and take our online survey. The survey will close on April 30.

Planning process

The Jericho Lands will go through a comprehensive planning program that will help guide its future redevelopment to create a new community that is sustainable, socially and culturally inclusive, and highly livable.

The planning program will explore options that address important priorities including:

  • Ways to advance our collective work toward reconciliation
  • Creating a complete community with a range of housing options with different income levels and tenures
  • Providing new housing within walking distance of existing and future frequent transit routes, including a potential Skytrain extension to UBC
  • Providing shops, services, childcare, and employment space to support the new community and the rest of the city
  • Recognizing and celebrating cultural and heritage assets
  • Creating new parks and open spaces, and a comprehensive package of other community amenities to be determined through the planning process
