When you can apply for an exemption

You can apply for a water exemption permit if you are:

  Caring for a new lawn

  New lawns can require more water than provided under the watering regulations.

  If you are applying for an exemption permit:

  • You must show a receipt for lawn seed or sod
  • Your permit is valid for three weeks from the date of purchase
  • Watering is ONLY allowed from 4am to 9am
  • Your permit must be visibly displayed on the property
  • It costs $35.31 for a new lawn permit

  Treating for pest infestation

  When treating your lawn with nematodes, your lawn should be as moist as a wrung-out sponge. The amount of water needed will depend on your lawn, soil depth, and weather conditions. If you need more water than provided under the sprinkling regulations, apply for an exemption permit.

  If you are treating your lawn with nematodes to get rid of Chafer Beetles:

  • You must show a receipt for nematodes
  • Your permit is valid for a three-week period from the date of purchase with no extensions
  • Watering is ONLY allowed from 4am to 9am
  • Your permit must be visibly displayed on the property
  • It costs $20 for a pest infestation permit
