#VIVARobson launches - consultation on Vancouver’s future public plaza at 800 Robson Street

September 11 2016

#VIVARobson - Tell us what you think

Give us your feedback to help transform 800 Robson Street, between the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Law Courts, into a permanent city-serving destination plaza that will reflect the diversity of Vancouver and its users.

Over the last five years, we have been engaging with the public on the use of this space through past VIVA Vancouver installations and public consultation processes.

We are hoping to build on past learnings to determine:

  • How you see yourself using and travelling through the space
  • What the space should look like
  • What kind of programming, if any, you would like to see in the space

Share your thoughts and ideas for the future permanent plaza

We will be collecting feedback between September 10 and October 2.

The feedback received will help inform design concepts that consider the look, feel, and use of the permanent plaza. We will report out on findings in the fall and next steps.

Tell us what you think

  • Visit 800 Robson and answer one, some or all of the questions on the pavement via Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #vivarobson . If you submit before October 2, 2016, you could win a prize.
  • Complete the online questionnaire
  • Visit us at 800 Robson on September 15, 2016 between 12:00pm – 6:30pm and provide your feedback in-person
  • Email us your ideas at: vivarobson@vancouver.ca

City Council voted to create a permanent public plaza at 800 Robson Street earlier this year. For the last five summers, we have successfully experimented with activating the space through VIVA Vancouver—  Vancouver's public space program. The success of VIVA Vancouver, along with other major events like the Olympics have demonstrated the need for a permanent city-serving public plaza.
