Nominations for the City of Vancouver Cultural Harmony Awards and Access and Inclusion Awards are now being accepted.

Cultural Harmony Awards

The Cultural Harmony Awards recognize outstanding contributions by individuals or organizations in promoting greater understanding, respect and cooperation among different cultural groups. Winners are honoured by the Mayor and Council with a plaque, a Certificate of Appreciation and a tree planted in their name in the Vancouver Park Board Cultural Harmony Grove.

Access and Inclusion Awards

The Access and Inclusion Awards recognize individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership and commitment to enhance accessibility, inclusion, universality, and the elimination of barriers for persons with disabilities. Winners receive a plaque and Certificate of Appreciation presented by the Mayor and Council.

All nominees must live or work in the city of Vancouver. Eligible organizations include non-profit groups or service clubs, educational institutions, hospitals, government departments, unions, professional and trade associations, media organizations, small businesses, public and private corporations. An independent jury will choose winners based on nature, scope and impact of their achievement.

The two events have been combined this year. The deadline for nominations is October 2, 2013. Nomination forms and details on requirements are available at the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) office at City Hall, 453 West 12th Avenue, ground floor, or on the City’s website.
