City Hall to close an hour early on federal election day
Residents and business owners who want to visit City Hall campus on Monday, September 20, should note that a few buildings and services will close an hour early at 4pm, and should plan accordingly.
This early closure is to allow City of Vancouver employees time to vote in the federal election at the end of the day.
The Canada Elections Act states that an employer must provide eligible employees with three consecutive hours to vote between 7am and 7pm on the day of the federal election.
Staff in the following services will not be available after 4pm on September 20, including by phone or online:
|City Hall, 453 West 12th Ave||Revenue Services|
|West Annex, 515 West 10th Ave||Development and Buildings Services Centre|
|Crossroads, 507 West Broadway||Engineering Services Centre|
These services will resume normal working hours between 8:30 am to 5 pm on Tuesday, September 21.
Operating hours for all other City buildings and services will not be affected on Monday, September 20.
Residents and business owners can check the opening status of services before planning a visit, or contact 3-1-1.
