September 22 2016 –

Discover the talents of Vancouver’s cultural community and join the activities during Culture Days from:

  • September 30 to October 2

We are presenting 20 activities this year in our continued commitment to participate, collaborate, and innovate in the culture and arts of Vancouver.

Civic theatre events

Vancouver's civic theatres are hosting three events:

  • Friday night: It's Gatsby's Night Out (currently wait-listed) at the historic Orpheum.
  • Saturday afternoon:  The lobby of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre will be open for life drawing with dancers from Arts Umbrella.
  • Sunday afternoon: The Annex theatre will host Vancouver’s Tango Milongueros, who will have one-hour workshops, on the hour, for those interested in learning some tango moves.

Drawing workshops

Big Draw, a global initiative, supported by the City and Park Board, encourages everyone to rediscover and celebrate the joy of drawing in everyday life. All ages and abilities are invited to the free, hands-on drawing workshops with professional artists.

Workshops take place across the city in:

  • Community centres
  • Museums
  • Art galleries
  • On the street

Walking tours

Back again are the popular walking tours of Vancouver's public art. Nine tours are offered, highlighting works in three distinct areas of the city:

  • Yaletown-False Creek
  • Gastown
  • Chinatown
  • The Burrard Corridor-Downtown

Tours will be conducted in English, Mandarin and, new for 2016, in American SignLanguage.
