About the Chinatown Transformation Team
The Chinatown Transformation Team is a dedicated staff team formed in September 2018 to work with the community and key partners to co-create and implement a plan that includes a cultural assets management strategy and exploring a UNESCO World Heritage site application for Chinatown.
This work is part of the City's broader efforts around cultural redress with Chinese Canadians in Vancouver, which included City Council's official apology for historical discrimination in 2018. The involvement of residents, stakeholders and people from all parts of the city will be important in helping to foster a Chinatown that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
