The City of Vancouver issued a record $1.12 billion in building permits during the first six months of 2014, the highest amount since pre-recession levels. This is the third year in a row that construction has topped the billion-dollar figure for the first half of the year.

The City of Vancouver released its third annual Greenest City Action Plan update today, with progress continuing in all 10 goal areas. Most notably, Vancouver reached a remarkable six per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) since 2007. In the same period, the population grew five per cent and jobs increased seven per cent.

The City of Vancouver works with the Burrard Inlet Environmental Action Program to protect the inlet.
