Park Board spring break activities will educate and entertain

March 6 2014

VanDusen Botanical Garden

Spring break is around the corner! We offer education and entertainment at many Park Board facilities including the Stanley Park Miniature Train, VanDusen Botanical Garden, Bloedel Conservatory, golf courses, and community centres.

Stanley Park Miniature Train

The Easter bunny arrives early at the Stanley Park Miniature Train. The train will be carrying passengers on a fun two-kilometre journey through the forest March 15 to 30. (The Easter Train also runs April 16 to 21.)

VanDusen Botanical Garden

Beautiful VanDusen Botanical Garden offers two spring break camps—one where children will learn about the mysteries and marvels of the natural world and the other where they will learn watercolour techniques.

Bloedel Conservatory

Take the family to Bloedel Conservatory—open every day—for a tropical staycation. On March 16, as part of the new Family Program, children and their parents can take a closer look at the amazing plants that spend their lives perching on other plants! Find more information at vandusengarden.org

Fraserview and McCleery golf courses

Golf professionals at both Fraserview and McCleery golf courses have some terrific golf camps for kids. Courses cover skills development, including putting, chipping, and full swing, along with rules and etiquette.

Community centres

The Park Board’s 24 community centres offer a variety of sports, art, dance, science, and technology camps for preschoolers, children, and youth. Full day camps with daily out trips are offered at most centres, and before and after care is also available.

The Swim ‘n’ Skate day camps at Hillcrest Centre are sure to be popular. Intended for all skill levels, these camp will keep kids active, learning new skills while developing friendships along the way. Games and play will be incorporated throughout the day.

Rinks and pools

Kids can also get into the skate or swim of things! Additional public skate and swims have been added to the rink and pool schedules for spring break.
