The City to enforce neighbourhood parking restrictions during the PNE

August 18 2012

Heading to the PNE? The easiest ways to get there are by transit, bike, or on foot. If you drive, park your vehicle in one of the designated on-site parking lots, or one of the designated lots nearby.

Hastings Park Master Plan

Two official lots with a capacity of 3,300 vehicles are located at the fairgrounds at Gate 6 (Renfrew Street) and Gate 9 (Bridgeway Street). Parking is a flat rate of $20 (tax included). Another 700 spaces are available nearby in designated lots (weekends only). A free bicycle valet service is available inside Gate 1 (Hastings at Renfrew) and bike racks are available outside Gates 5 and 13.

Drivers looking to park in other areas are strongly advised to watch for signs that limit or restrict parking, and not to park too close to intersections and fire hydrants or block driveways. On-street parking spaces cannot be reserved with cones or other objects. City of Vancouver Parking Enforcement Officers will be working in surrounding neighbourhoods to ensure parking activities comply with City bylaws during the exhibition. Parking regulations will be strictly enforced at all temporary and permanent Resident Parking Only (RPO) zones in the neighbourhood.

Under City bylaws, residents may be permitted to sell parking, provided their property meets the requirements of the parking, zoning and development bylaws and the property has been inspected by a City Property Use Inspector. City of Vancouver Property Use Inspectors will be working in the neighbourhood to enforce unauthorized parking on private property.

Residents are not permitted to solicit motorists, obstruct or impede passage on the streets (including sidewalks and lanes) or call out for the purpose of attracting attention.

Residents are reminded it is illegal to sell parking spaces in RPO zones. Enforcement staff will ticket and may tow vehicles that are not registered to an address in RPO zone on the block.

Violations of the bylaws can result in fines ranging from $100 for illegal parking to up to $2,000 for illegally allowing parking on residential property.

Please obey City parking bylaws and have a great time at the PNE.
