Vancouver shows its support for Canadian Athletes

February 2 2018 Landmarks will light up red for Olympics, Paralympics

City Hall lit red

The City of Vancouver will be lighting up some of its landmarks in red to show support for Canada's athletes at the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The exterior lights at City Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, operated by Vancouver Civic Theatres, as well as the new lighting on the Burrard Bridge will all go red from February 9 to March 18.

City employees are also being encouraged to wear their Canada or Olympic gear on February 9 to mark the Opening Ceremonies of the Games, and some City vehicles will sport temporary signage.

The City is also excited to cheer on Meghan Agosta, a Vancouver Police Department Officer, who is competing in the Games on Canada's Women's Hockey team.

Vancouver was proud to be the host city for the Olympic Winter Games in 2010, and the legacy and spirit of those games lives on in our continued support for Canada's athletes.
