Vancouver's public beaches and waterfront access make it among the most liveable cities in the world.
Our nine beaches – eight by the ocean, one by a freshwater lake – offer 18 km of beautiful outdoor space to sunbathe, swim, play sports, and picnic.

False Creek
The waters of False Creek are great for paddling and boating, but not swimming. Use public sewage pump-outs for your boat.
The accompanying Seawall and Seaside Greenway form the world's longest uninterrupted waterfront path and are perfect for walking, running, cycling, and picnicking.
Only propane barbecues are currently permitted at parks and beach barbecue areas. Charcoal and briquette-style barbecues are not allowed.
Ensuring safe use of propane barbecues:
- Place 75 cm off the ground
- Keep water nearby to douse
- Ensure barbecues are fully extinguished after use
- Avoid using near forested areas
Important note All barbecues, including propane, are banned in Stanley Park.
Important note No barbecues are allowed on the sandy beach areas.
