The cultural amenity space is located on levels 1 and 2 in a 35-storey residential building at 889 Drake Street. The space will be leased to a non-profit arts operator.

The intended use and goals for the space is to:

  • Be a dedicated space for cultural presentation and artist production, either operated by a single organization or by multiple organizations 
  • Provide affordable and accessible spaces on a cost-recovery basis that balances sustainability and affordability 
  • Support and amplify the artistic practices and voices of artists from Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, Indigenous communities, and equity-deserving communities

  • Approximately 14,000 square feet of space over levels 1 and 2
  • Facilities for visual arts or media arts presentations or exhibitions, with a bar and kitchen for occasional event use
  • Artist studios accommodating a range of arts including:
    • Ceramics
    • Carving
    • Painting
    • Textiles
    • Sculpture
    • Drawing
    • Printmaking
    • Photography
    • Sound art (unamplified)
    • Media arts

Artist studio and presentation spaces are not suitable for ongoing theatre, dance, music, or other performing arts uses. Occasional performing arts use may be permitted in presentation space. 

The space will be finished and equipped (excluding furniture, AV, and other specialized equipment).
