September 13, 2021: Proof of vaccination is required to participate in some programs and events. Entry into recreation centres does not require proof of vaccination, but will be required for some programs and activities. Come prepared with your official proof of vaccination and government-issued photo ID.

We are moving forward with full programming for community centres, including:

  • Easing of physical distancing measures
  • Gradual and phased re-implementation of pre-pandemic operations and full recreational programming
  • Elimination of one-way traffic flow and re-introduction of lobby and social seating
  • Phased increased occupancy for pools, fitness centres, and rinks

Mask wearing

Masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces for those 12 and older, even if you are vaccinated. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided at the front desk.

August 25, 2021: Participation in community centre programming may be affected by the recent Provincial Health Authority regulations. Program registrants will be updated as soon as information becomes available.

Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre – located in downtown Vancouver's Yaletown neighbourhood – is a historic railway complex with arts, crafts, and leisure spaces.

Our facility has after-school child care; dance, pottery, and woodworking studios; a gymnasium; multi-purpose rooms; exhibition space; and a 200-seat theatre. We are also home to Engine 374, a locomotive that pulled the first trans-continental passenger train across Canada and into Vancouver in 1887.

The Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre is jointly operated by the Vancouver Park Board and the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Society (RCARS).

RCARS's mandate for The Roundhouse is to be both a centre for community cultural development, and a community source for recreational activities for all ages, by exploring issues, taking risks, and striving to bring people together in new ways to explore what is important to them.
