The Vancouver Park Board is upgrading the existing grass fields located at Slocan Park.
The intent of the field renewal program is to upgrade all 3 grass fields to ‘A’ level fields, increasing playing capacity by as much as 50%.
The design of the fields was completed through consultation with the Vancouver Field Sports Federation (VFSF) External website, opens in new tab and the local community. Upgrades include:
- Regrading and expanding play areas
- Installing new irrigation and drainage systems
- New goal posts and ball control fences at the ends of the fields
The Park Board has finalized the design for the upgrades. Construction is targeted to start July 2019 and substantially completed by December 2019.
Fields will remain closed until May 2020 to allow the grass to fully establish.
