Studios in the Artist Studio Award Program

The next intake for the 2025-2028 Award will begin early in 2024.

Art practices allowed

All studios are approved for producing carvings, creative writing, dance, drawings, moving- or still photography, music, paintings, pottery, sculptures, textile crafts, weaving, and video.

Welding and glassblowing are not permitted. None of the studios have venting for toxic fumes. Soundproofing varies so the use of amplified music is generally not permitted.

There are currently six studios in the program:

Four residential work spaces (live-work)
Two work-only

We award the studios through a juried process that takes place once every three years.

Live-work studios

Occupancy in the live-work bachelor studios is for one to two adults

Studio E4: Single-level on third floor apartment
- Location: 272 East 4th Ave (at Scotia)
- Rent: $215 per month (2022 to 2025)
- Size: 528 square feet
- Studio amenities: Fridge, stove, washer - dryer, full 4 piece bathroom, concrete floors, and a large, northeast-facing window
- Building amenities: Elevator, common roof deck area, and amenity room
- Parking: Street and bicycle parking
- Pets: Two cats, two dogs, or one cat and one dog

- Size: 1,075 square feet
- Studio amenities: Fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer-dryer, security alarm, and 300-square-foot loft area

- Parking: One parking stall and bicycle parking
