School-age Care Expansion Projects Grant Program

Does your non-profit society need funding to create new licensed school-age childcare programs in Vancouver School Board (VSB) facilities?

If so, you may be eligible for funds for capital-related costs. Conditions apply, please see below for details.

Projects that create new licensed school-age childcare programs in or on a non-VSB site that is owned or long-term leased by a non-profit organization may also be eligible for fundng support. Please contact Eric Kowalski (contact info below) to discuss your project idea.

Current status

We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis until further notice.

 Organizations are encouraged to apply as early as possible (April/early May) to allow the Vancouver Board of Education to plan for summer construction.

Basic eligibility criteria

Non-profit societies that offer licensed childcare in a school setting can apply if they:

  • Provide early learning and care, or other social services to Vancouver residents
  • Are in good standing with the Registrar of Companies
  • Are financially stable and have a proven track record of delivering programs with strong outcomes

Priority is given to organizations that provide licensed care in high need, under-served areas of the city.

Eligible expenses

Funding can be used to cover:

  • All work done by Vancouver School Board tradespeople to meet provincial and City of Vancouver childcare licensing requirements
  • Up to 10% of eligible furniture, equipment, and supply expenses, City budget permitting (supplies may include computer or telephone equipment, small appliances, etc.)
