  Eligibility criteria

  • Grants are available to all public elementary and secondary schools located in the City of Vancouver. 
  • There is a limit of one grant per school or annex.
  • Projects must take place from January 1 to June 13, 2025.
  • Projects must be supported by the school administration.
  • Projects must be free, accessible, and welcoming to all students.
  • Projects must focus on the promotion, education, or encouragement of active transportation to and from school. This grant is not for sports-related activities.
  • Funding may not be used for new infrastructure on school grounds (for example, bike or scooter racks). If you are interested in requesting infrastructure for your school, contact VSB Sustainability directly for these requests.

  Examples of eligible activities

  • Celebration or promotional events such as Bike and Walk to School Week
  • Active transportation skills and safety training 
  • Bicycle, scooter, or skateboard repair workshops 
  • Bicycle or skateboard lending library 
  • Starting a Walking School Bus or Bike Bus program
  • Active travel field trips 
  • Food and prize incentives to enhance your events

  Reporting requirements

  Schools that receive a 2024 to 2025 Walk Bike Roll Mini Grant are required to complete a short report using the template provided below. The report must be submitted by June 13, 2025. A minimum of 3 photos showing participants must be submitted, along with photo consent forms.
