This proposed development would positively impact the lives of women and children in Vancouver, and would be led by women at every stage, from planning to construction.
The proposed project
The proposed project would meet the needs of women and their families - as well as the local community - through:
- Women-led housing run by an experienced operator, which would prioritize Indigenous women and families
- A services hub that could include healing and wellness space, entrepreneurial opportunities, legal advocacy, health, arts and culture space, gathering space, and education courses and programs
- A childcare centre available to those living in the housing, as well as families who live in the neighbourhood, and parents who work in the area
- Green space
- Parking for the building, the neighbourhood, and local businesses
A parking analysis will be conducted to ensure that the development provides replacement parking to serve the needs of the neighbourhood and businesses.
This project is still in its early stages, and potential development of the site would require a rezoning application.
