Theft-from-auto continues to be a common crime in Vancouver, but there are steps you can take to minimize your risk, expense, and inconvenience.

  • Lock your vehicle and close the windows. This stops the thieves who are simply walking from vehicle to vehicle testing door handles and then taking anything they find of value to them.

  • Remove everything from sight and leave nothing in your vehicle to steal. This reduces your chances of your vehicle being selected because it has not attracted a thief’s attention -- even if it’s just for your loose change and a cheap pair of sunglasses.

  • Park in well-lit and well-travelled areas.

If you witness a theft-from-auto or see something suspicious, please call 9-1-1.

If you have been the victim of a theft-from-auto, please call the VPD non-emergency line at 604-717-3321.
