SUPERINTENDENT CITA AIRTH

Superintendent Cita AirthSuperintendent Cita Airth was raised in Edmonton, Alberta and, prior to policing, completed a diploma in Civil Engineering at the Southern Albert Institute of Technology. She joined the Vancouver Police Department in 1992 and, as a constable, worked in Patrol, Strike Force, General Investigations, Robbery/Assault, and Homicide.

As a sergeant, Cita led teams in Patrol, Sex Crimes, and Homicide before being promoted to the rank of inspector. As an inspector, Cita led the Special Investigation Section (SIS) and the Major Crime Section, where she oversaw many successful and complex investigations. While in SIS, Cita assisted with the development of the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre which is now operating as the Treehouse. She also worked extensively with the community to develop the sex work enforcement guidelines for Vancouver, which were then used as a basis for the new provincial guidelines.

As Superintendent, Cita served as the Deputy Operations Support Officer at the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit for three years before returning to the VPD in 2019 as the Superintendent of Investigative Services.

Cita is a provincially accredited Team Commander, a qualified Gold Commander for Public Order, has a master of arts in leadership, and was appointed as a Member of the Order of Merit (MOM) of the Police Forces.
