Bute-Robson Plaza on Bute St featuring a car-free street with picnic tables with blue garden umbrellas

Bute-Robson Plaza construction

We’re building a permanent Bute-Robson Plaza to create a welcoming and vibrant public space that can support community connections and activations for years to come. We are also extending the plaza feel onto Robson Street by widening the sidewalks for more space to stroll and raising the intersection to prioritize walking and rolling.

The work area will be on Bute Street between Haro Street and Eihu Lane, and along the adjacent blocks on Robson Street east and west of the intersection.

We based the design of the plaza and public enhancement features on input from businesses, stakeholders and the West End community during Bute Greenway engagement.

What's happeningConstruction is now underway

In summer 2024, we began public space improvements on the Robson Street blocks adjacent to the plaza. Construction of the plaza space will begin in 2025.
