We’re upgrading critical infrastructure and improving safety for all users along Renfrew Street from McGill Street to E 1st Avenue.
Work includes replacement of nearly 2000 metres of sewer with a separated and larger capacity system. The new sewer will have a life expectancy of 100 years to help serve this growing neighborhood while improving the system’s seismic resiliency.
We are also coordinating street and safety improvements for all modes of travel, including pavement and sidewalk repairs, as well as signal upgrades, including new pedestrian and cyclist signals.
What's happeningEarly work: sewer renewal starting mid-June
From mid-June to fall 2021, localized sewer renewal works will be underway on sections of Turner Street, Kaslo Street, and Renfrew Street up to Pender Street and Slocan Street.
During the sewer renewal early works, drivers can expect traffic changes and detours around construction. Traffic near the work area will be reduced to one lane in each direction, one alternating lane in either direction or local access only. Please watch for traffic changes and detour signs.
