Each year we conduct public engagement to get input from residents and businesses to guide the development of the draft annual budget.
We conduct engagement on the budget a number of ways, including:
- Talk Vancouver survey
- Online resources
- Community and key stakeholder outreach
All public input on the budget helps to inform City Council’s deliberation of the draft budget, leading to the approval of a final budget for the upcoming year.
2021 civic service satisfaction survey
Earlier this year, opinion research was done in the form of a representative telephone survey with 600 Vancouver residents and 200 businesses. The purpose of the survey is to ask about satisfaction with our services and provide insight into priorities for the future.
How we engaged
Public engagement for the 2022 Budget was conducted between July and August 2021 and took place mainly online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What happens next?
Public input will guide us as we draft the 2022 Budget. This will be published in late November and presented to Council on December 1. Council is scheduled to deliberate and vote on the budget at their December 7 meeting.
