KEEP ON ROLLING WITH FALL GO BY BIKE WEEK
The days may be getting shorter and a little rainier, but that’s no reason to hang up your helmet!
HUB Cycling’s Fall Go by Bike Week returns September 27 to October 3, celebrating the joy of riding — rain or shine. Whether you’re cycling, e-biking or scooting, every trip counts toward making our streets more climate-friendly, healthy and connected.
Keep the journey safe and enjoyable for everyone, and ride with respect and kindness:
- Follow the rules of the road
- Yield to people walking and slow down in busy areas
- Give at least 1 metre when passing
- Make sure you’re seen and heard
By using active transportation to get around the city, you’re helping us meet our Climate Emergency Action Plan goal to cut Vancouver’s carbon pollution in half by 2030.
YOUR TURN
- Sign up for free as an individual or team and log your trips for chances to win amazing prizes!
- Visit Celebration Stations around the city for free bike maintenance, cycling maps and information, swag, snacks and more.
- Check out our videos for more safe riding tips.
- Explore, plan and ride: the City has a brand-new interactive Digital Bike Map to make every trip easier.

SUPPORT ACTIVE TRAVEL WITH WALK BIKE ROLL MINI GRANTS
Are you a parent, guardian, teacher or student interested in getting more families walking, biking and rolling to your school? The City is pleased to offer up to $1,500 to public elementary and secondary schools for projects that encourage active travel through our Walk Bike Roll Mini Grants.
Eligible activities include:
- Celebration or promotional events such as Bike and Walk to School Week
- Active transportation skills and safety training
- Bicycle, scooter or skateboard repair workshops
- Bicycle or skateboard lending library
- Starting a Walking School Bus or Bike Bus program
Walk Bike Roll Mini Grants are part of the City’s School Active Travel Program, which promotes safe, fun and climate-friendly ways for students to get to school. Since vehicles cause nearly 40% of the city’s carbon pollution, choosing active travel helps reduce emissions, traffic and air pollution around schools.

LEARN ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARS RESEARCH
This summer, a new cohort of UBC graduate students brought fresh energy and insight to the City of Vancouver through the Sustainability Scholars program, a long-standing collaboration between the City and UBC Sustainability Hub.
Since 2010, the Sustainability Scholars program has supported over 250 applied research projects that help shape Vancouver’s climate and sustainability initiatives. Each year, Scholars contribute research, ideas and recommendations that inform key strategies, such as the Climate Emergency Action Plan, Climate Adaptation Strategy, Healthy City Strategy, Equity Framework and more.
This year’s projects tackled a wide range of research topics, including:
- Mapping ecological corridors in underused urban spaces
- Enhancing climate resilience in golf course water management
- Strengthening Vancouver’s shared micromobility system
- Exploring low-carbon materials for green infrastructure
