Grandview-Woodland Community Plan

Path to a Community Plan

In the spring of 2012, the City of Vancouver will embark on a comprehensive community planning program in the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood. Find more information on the Grandview-Woodland Community Plan website. The process will be done through extensive public and stakeholder consultation. When completed, the plan will replace a Local Area Plan that was developed between 1979 and 1983.

A community plan provides a clear but flexible framework to guide positive change and development in a neighbourhood. Each plan considers long-range and shorter-term goals and works to balance broad, city-wide objectives with the unique issues, initiatives and characteristics of a given neighbourhood. Community Plans cover a range of topic areas and look at land-use, housing, transportation, social issues, parks and open-space, among other items.

Work on the new Grandview-Woodland plan will unfold in four key stages, each of which will have a number of opportunities for community participation and public involvement:

  • Phase 1: Identifying, Assets, Issues & Opportunities, Spring 2012
  • Phase 2: Developing Policy Options for key planning themes and neighbourhood areas, Fall 2012 to Spring 2013
  • Phase 3: Synthesizing options and developing a Draft Plan, Summer to Fall 2013
  • Phase 4: Plan Approval, Fall to Winter 2013
