Kitsilano Beach Park bike path

The Vancouver Park Board is seeking a solution to the worn, diagonal path on the west edge of Kitsilano Beach Park. The informal path connects to the Balsam Street portion of the Point Grey bike path.

In 2015, Park Board staff installed a temporary orange snow-fence to prevent people on bikes from short-cutting across the park. However, this re-routing resulted in safety concerns from park users and cyclists.

What's happening

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback at the open house on November 29, 2016.

Based on input received from the open house, the Park Boad worked with the City of Vancouver's Engineering department to develop two modified options that are being explored with the community and stakeholders.

The two modified options address the community desire to maintain a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists. Further collaboration with the community and stakeholders will determine the next steps for this park improvement.
