New park at 17th and Yukon

Yukon and 17th park

The Vancouver Park Board opened a new neighbourhood park at Yukon Street and 17th Avenue, along the Yukon bike route in September 2016.

The park features a mini adventure playground, bike repair station, ample seating and lush garden beds. The Park Board received community feedback on the park design in 2014 and, along with City Council, approved its construction in spring 2015.

The park doesn't have a name yet and the Park Board is seeking suggestions from residents. A park naming committee will review suggested names and create a shortlist for Board Commissioners to vote on.

Work leading up to this project

The project site, located at 17th Avenue and Yukon Street, was purchased by the City of Vancouver in spring 2013.

In July 2013, the house located on the property was demolished by a City contract and given to the Vancouver Park Board to develop a park.

Park Board staff developed the design for the new park and held two public open houses to gain feedback. A design build team of Vander Zalm + Associates with Horizon Landscape Contractors were hired to construct the new park.
