of this scheduled Board meeting. Every attempt has been made to summarize

CHAIR'S REPORT
The Chair passed on the
Board's condolences on the recent death of
Sanitation Services Supervisor Bob Wilson,
a 28-year Park Board veteran. He acknowledged
the return to work of inside and outside
staff after the end of the civic strike,
and welcomed them all back. In mid-September,
the Board was represented at the H2V fundraiser
for Juvenile Diabetes event held at English
Bay beach.
GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT
Park Board related items on Council and
Committee this week include: 2008 Operating
Budget Schedule and Public Consultation Options,
and Trout Lake Rink Replacement. The General
Manager updated the Board on the nearly complete
resumption of Park Board services across the
city, including special promotions and events
to welcome patrons back. She acknowledged and
thanked the Board, management and staff for
their patience and cooperation over the past
three months.
STAFF REPORTS
Trout Lake Rink
The Board approved a number of recommendations
relating to the $2.86 million funding shortfall
for the Trout Lake Rink, which will serve
as a practice facility for the 2010 Winter
Games: a revised project budget of $15.94
million was approved to realize the project;
a donation of $250,000 was gratefully accepted
from the Grandview Community Centre Assocation;
a request will be made to Council to allocate
up to $2.86 million towards the project
from the VANOC contribution to the post
Olympic conversion of Hillcrest Centre;
and, the rink will be built to LEED Silver
standard, and the entire Trout Lake complex
(rink and community centre) developed to
meet LEED Gold.
Trillium Parksite - Temporary Location
for VPD Dog Squad
The temporary use of part of the Trillium Parksite
was approved for the Vancouver Police Department's
Dog Squad facility while their new permanent
home is being designed and built. The East
Vancouver location, presently being developed
for two artificial playing fields, will be
used for two years by the VPD unit.
Stanley Park Celebration
- Donor Recognition
The Board approved an interim plan to honour
the contribution of donors to the Stanley
Park Restoration project. Over the next two
months, the plan includes development of
a stewardship report for all of the 6,450
donors, a restoration site tour for the $10,000+
donors, and a tree planting ceremony for
the $1 million+ donors.
MOTION
The Board put forward a Motion to ensure
an ongoing liaison is established between
the City Council representative on the Metro
Vancouver Park Committee and a Park Board
Commissioner. The motion carried.

be held at 7 pm on Monday,
October 29, 2007 at 2099 Beach
Avenue.
