Getting married in one of Vancouver's most beautiful park facilities, on the beach or in a verdant park setting is an ideal way to start a lifetime together. A few basic rules apply when tying the knot in a public place so read on for all the important details.

Weddings in Public Parks

To hold an elegant, simple outdoor wedding ceremony on one of Vancouver's beautiful parks or beaches, please complete a wedding application form pdf and mail (2099 Beach Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6G 1Z4) or fax (604-257-8501) to the Special Events and Filming office.

To secure a location exclusively for your use on your special day, a wedding permit is necessary. This will ensure that other events are not booked at the same time.

Evening 2pm – 6pm

A wedding permit allows you to set up:

  • 10' x 10' tents (max. 2) - tents must be weighed down;
    spikes not permitted
  • chairs (max. 20)
  • small table for signing of marriage certificate
  • acoustic music (ie: accordion, guitar – no amplified sound)
  • minimal floral decoration
  • biodegradable confetti
    * Catered food and alcoholic beverages are not permitted

A $30 application fee is required in order to process your request. Payment can be made by credit card or cheque (payable to "Vancouver Park Board") and delivered or mailed to the address at the top of the application form. Once your permit application has been approved, this amount will be deducted from your permit fee.

Note: A permit is not currently required for wedding photos to be taken at one of Vancouver’s parks or beaches.

Book Your Event at One of These Locations

Aberthau Community Centre and Gardens - Photo sessions are not available during other bookings. Need two weeks advance notice (if available) for photos. For further information please call West Point Grey Community Centre at 604-257-8140.

Barclay Manor at Barclay Square Park - Rentals are available for smaller wedding receptions. The surrounding gardens are available for photos for groups under 100 people. For further information please call the Barclay Manor Programmer at 604-257-8349.

Bloedel Conservatory - Come together under the geodesic dome of this tropical paradise where free-flying birds give colourful accent and sound to a beautiful atmosphere where the weather is predictably perfect all year long. Reservations are required for wedding ceremonies and photos and a rental fee is charged per booked session. Two time slots are available for wedding parties: Morning (before public opening) and Evening (after public closing time). For further information and reservations please call Mavis at 604-257-8584.

Brock House - Rents out the restaurant for wedding receptions. The grounds are also utilized for wedding ceremonies. For further information please call 604-224-3317.

Celebration Pavilion at Queen Elizabeth Park - Book your wedding or other special occasion at the Celebration Pavilion in Queen Elizabeth Park. A stunning covered facility in Vancouver's most sought after park for wedding photos. The stylish building is beautifully located at Vancouver's highest point as part of the elegant Queen Elizabeth Park Plaza. Adjacent to a dramatic outdoor fountain and ring of West Coast style arbours, the Celebration Pavilion offers great views for guests and is located at the City's geographic centre. The floor to ceiling glass building offers indoor seating for 100+ guests and outdoor space for an additional 100 guests (click here to see facility rendering and layout ). Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden - The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is an exquisite and versatile space for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and photos. Four different spaces, indoor and outdoor, can host 2 to 200 people. No decoration is required. The Garden is unique and picturesque, rain or shine, and imbued with the perfect balance of yin and yang.  We also offer after-hours weddings or receptions for up to 500 people. False Creek Community Centre - Lind Hall - The Lind Hall is a beautifully restored heritage building located on popular Granville Island. This bright and spacious hall features birch hardwood floors and wainscoting, natural cedar beams and large picture windows backing onto Sutcliffe Park and Alder Bay. The space is excellent for receptions up to 150 guests. Granville Island and the gardens at Sutcliffe Park are also popular for wedding photography. Maritime Museum - (adjacent to Vanier Park) the grassed area in front of the Maritime Museum is another area where a ceremony could be held. The Maritime Museum has rooms inside to rent for receptions for groups from 75-150. The outside terrace is also available for ceremonies up to 90 people. Moberly Arts Centre - Affiliated with the Sunset Community Centre, this is another beautiful facility that offers one room for rent - group must be 110 people or less. Please call 604-718-6521.

Roedde House Museum - Roedde House Museum is a beautifully restored and redecorated Victorian home in Vancouver's West End. Small weddings will appreciate the charm and warmth of this old home. The house can accommodate up to 45 people for a reception or 10-12 for a sit-down dinner. A lovely garden with a gazebo completes this magical setting. VanDusen Botanical Garden - The Great Lawn is a spectacular setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions.
