Active Adventure Park Day
at Strathcona Park
The
second of five Active Adventure Park
Days was held at Strathcona Park on
Sunday, May 4th. Elementary school students and
their families enjoyed the mini-Olympic obstacle
course, climbing wall, child-size Police Obstacle
Course, tug-of-war and several circus arts skills.
They also played soccer with MoreSports, and
enjoyed a nature walk around Strathcona Park
while identifying several birds and wild life.
The Strathcona Active Adventure Park Day was an Active Communities Vancouver event organized and sponsored by the Vancouver Park Board, City of Vancouver, MoreSport, Red Fox Active Outreach and the Vancouver School Board. East Vancouver and West End elementary schools were given Active Adventure Passports to encourage the students and their families to "Step It Up 20%.
The success of this event is with thanks to several partners who provided volunteers, staff, equipment and funding to help the community residents to enjoy a great afternoon. The Park Board and Active Communities Initiative want to thank:
Red Fox Active Outreach volunteers and staff
- MoreSport volunteers and staff
- ADAPT Vancouver Native Health Society volunteers and staff
- Vancouver Police Department
- The BC Lions Football Club
- Strathcona Community Centre staff
- Strathcona Community Association
There are three more Active Adventures Park Days planned. Come out and "Step It Up 20%" at:
- Hastings Park (PNE) May 18 1:00 to
4:00 pm
- Killarney Park May 25 1:00 to 4:00
