February 6, 2006 - What better place to have a get together than outside in one of Vancouver's beautiful parks? Surrounded by family and friends there's nothing quite like balmy weather, all the usual al fresco dishes to feed a crowd and the sound of children playing pick-up soccer or baseball to transport us back to less hectic and simpler times.

Small picnics do not require special permits but larger ones with special facilities to accommodate cooking, shelter and seating areas need to be reserved in advance for a modest fee.

The Park Board has twelve picnic sites that can be viewed on line and easily reserved in advance. An easy to search availability calendar, showing booked times and empty slots, gives you all the information you need for reserving sites accommodating from 10 to 150 people.
