Project Description

The Vancouver Park Board has approved the development of a public park located in front of the new development at 3333 Main Street, at the northwest corner of the Main Street and 18th Ave junction. The slip lane that previously existed on the western edge of the site has been removed to effectively increase the size of the future park and allow the park to become integrated into the public realm in front of the development at 3333 Main Street. The future park will be an important component within the urban fabric of “Mid-Main” and will link the Mount Pleasant portion of Main Street to the portion of Main Street south of 18th Avenue.

The Park Board is pleased with the success of the three public open houses held thus far on July 19th, September 17th, and November 1st respectively. The insights provided through these public events will inform the design development as we move forward. Hapa Collaborative Landscape Architects will be responsible for integrating the public’s input in order to develop the design and prepare construction drawings. The current preferred design will be presented to the Park Board for approval.

As well as coordinating the design of the park, Hapa Collaborative will also administer the construction of the park by a contractor during the winter of 2012. The anticipated completion of park construction is Spring 2012
