March 1, 2004 (No. 7) - The public is invited to the official opening celebrations of the expanded False Creek Community Centre, located at 1318 Cartwright Street on Granville Island, on Saturday, March 6th at 1:00pm. The new gymnasium will provide facility users with an indoor high-ceiling space to accommodate basketball, volleyball and a range of other activities. An extensive upgrade of the heating and ventilation system was also included in the project. Funds were provided by Park Board, the False Creek Community Association and the City of Vancouver. New equipment has been provided for the refurbished fitness area by the False Creek Community Association.

The expansion was designed by the architectural firm of Henriquez-Partners Architects, also responsible for a previous addition to the building. The contractor for the project was Makam Construction Ltd.
