Archival Film of Vancouver Featured at Dunbar Community Centre in Looking Back Series

March 1, 2004 (No. 8) - Step back in time, when Vancouver was an emerging city at a special screening entitled Looking Back: Vancouver to be presented at the Dunbar Community Centre, 4747 Dunbar Street, Wednesday, March 10th from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm.

Join CBC Television Archivist Colin Preston who will narrate early Vancouver film footage with snippets featuring the likes of:

City Story (1967) A portrait of Vancouver, it's relationship to its natural surroundings and the frame of mind of its inhabitants. Includes Chinatown , Lion's Gate Bridge , the Vancouver Club, Burrard Street Bridge , Kitsilano and more.
Summer Afternoon (1956) Exploration of Chinatown follows the wandering of 2 young boys at play in and around the shops, streets and False Creek waterfront.
Pacific Showcase (1956) A comprehensive look at the PNE including footage of the parade, exhibition park, industrial exhibits, dog show rides and games, and the Miss PNE competition.
Granville Bridge (1954) The construction and official opening of the bridge.

Looking Back is an exciting series of presentations that reflect on the City of Vancouver's history through old moving images and narration. These events are presented in cooperation between CBC Television and the Vancouver Park Board and will be offered at local community centres throughout the coming year.
