Special Events in Vancouver Parks
April 30, 2004 (No. 25) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range
of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming
special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. For detailed

Stanley Park Seawall Closed Between
Lions Gate Bridge and Third Beach through the end of May. This section
of the popular seawall will be closed for widening and re-paving. Further
details regarding this closure with detours is posted on the home
page of the Park Board Web site at www.vancouverparks.ca Ph. 604-257-8400.
Annual Basset Hound Walk Sunday,
May 2nd at 11 am at Prospect
Point Picnic grounds in Stanley Park. Bring your favourite
qualifying dog, the family and a picnic lunch.
Pow Wow Event Friday,
May 7th to Sunday, May 9 at Trout
Lake Community Centre located at 3350 Victoria Drive. 19th
Annual Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House sponsored traditional Pow Wow
with exhibition dancing, crafts, food and silent auction. Ph.

Children's Festival at Vanier Park Monday, May 17th to Monday, May 24th. Lots
of free activities on-site. Tickets: Ph. 604-280-4444.
Park Board Rangers start
patrols Saturday, May 22nd. Rangers have a host of responsibilities
including monitoring of play fields and general park activities (including
filming and "busking"), bike patrol, reporting on by-law infractions,
public education regarding park rules and general liaison work with
other agencies and stakeholders. Ph. 604-257-8400.
Beaches and Beachside Pools to
open Saturday, May 22nd. Lifeguards will be on duty at
designated areas on Vancouver's bathing
beaches from 11:30 am to dusk. Kitsilano,
Second
Beach and New
Brighton Park pools will also be open from May 22nd. Check
