Free Dance Instruction at Ceperley Picnic Site in Stanley Park

June 1, 2004 (No. 37) - A free dance program at Ceperley Picnic Site in Stanley Park is offered Monday to Wednesday evenings, weather permitting, from June to August and Thursday evenings in July. No partner is required and instruction is provided. All ages welcome.

Lots of patterns, turns and passes. Enjoy old-fashioned fun dancing with members of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Kilts optional! The Vancouver International Folk Dance Society will lead you in line and circle dances from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Jive, swing, cha-cha, rhumba, mambo, samba, tango, fox trot, polka and waltz under the stars with experienced instructors from Dance World.

Enjoy a fun evening of easy line dancing to a variety of music. No experience or partner necesarry. Learn the historic Shim Sham Shimmy. No tap shoes required - just a bounce in your step! Class taught by Jennifer Bishop followed by a performance by The Urban Squad... then YOU join in on stage to perform the Shim Sham Shimmy with the company.

Capoeira is a unique martial art that incorporates fighting styles and dance-like movements accompanying the rhythm of its own music. Capoeira is suitable for everyone regardless of age or fitness level.

 

Hip hop is a fun and fast dance class with A-Star Studios. Popping, locking, house, and old school will be taught.
