June 30, 2004 (No. 11) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Bard on the Beach Now thru September 26th at Vanier Park Show time 8:00 pm nightly featuring Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth. Ph. 604-739-0559

73rd Rogers Open Tennis Tourney Saturday, July 10th-Monday, July 26th at the Stanley Park tennis courts near the Fish House Restaurant presented by Tennis B.C. Over 75 events for junior, adult, wheelchair and senior participants, novice to professional levels. Ph. 604-737-3086

Sizzling Sunday at Strathcona Park Sunday, July 11th from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. Celebrate the official opening of this redeveloped park with performing arts, talent show, skate board clinic, plant sale and more. Ph. 604-713-1838

Theatre Under the Stars at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Opening Night - Crazy for You Wednesday, July 14th (Alternates with Footloose through Saturday, August 21st). Ph. 604-687-0714

Vancouver Folk Music Festival Friday, July 16th-Sunday, July 18th at Jericho Beach Park offers the world's finest traditional and contemporary folk and roots music . Ph. 604-602-9798

Walk with the Dragon Sunday, July 18th at 9:00 am in Stanley Park, presented by SUCCESS . This community-based fund raising event includes the Stanley Park seawall walk and lots of activities, food and entertainment. Ph. 604-408-7228

Illuminares Saturday, July 24th at Dusk at John Hendry Park (Trout Lake) on Victoria Drive between East 13th and East 18th Avenues is presented by the Public Dreams Society . A magical, pyrotechnic, summertime, family event with paper lanterns, music and a fireworks finale. Ph. 604-879-8611

Celebration of Light July 28th and 31st and August 4th and 7th at 10:00 pm presented by the Vancouver Fireworks Society at English Bay. China, Sweden and Spain compete in this fireworks extravaganza.
