Vancouver Celebrates Canada's Parks Day

July 9, 2004 (No. 49) - July 17th has been proclaimed as "Canada's Parks Day" in the City of Vancouver. To celebrate this nation wide event, three of Vancouver's premier parks will be hosting free special interpretive walks. Explore the nature of things at a park close to you!

Stanley Park - Nature Walk

What: The Secret Lives of Insects
Where: Meet at the Lost Lagoon Nature House, near Georgia Street entrance
When: 10 am ( 2 hours)

Join the Stanley Park Ecology Society as they lead you on an insect inspired jaunt through Vancouver's first park.

Queen Elizabeth Park - Tree Tour

What: Tall Tree Tales
Where: Meet in front of the Bloedel Floral Conservatory at the top of the park
When: 12 noon (2 hours)

Vancouver's highest park also contains an arboretum including many native and rare species.
This guided tour will enlighten all tree lovers.

Hastings Park - Nature Walk

What: Walk with a Naturalist in the Sanctuary
Where: Meet at the south side of the Agrodome (PNE)
When: 2 pm (2 hours)

Join naturalist Al Grass as he explores the nature of things from pond life to soaring raptors at beautiful Hastings Park.
