Special Events in Vancouver Parks

September 30, 2004 (No. 14) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. The Stanley Park Hallowe'en Ghost Train October 1 to Oct 31, daily from 6:30 - 10:30 pm. This year's theme is "A Mid-Autumn Night's Scream!" Tickets available through TicketMaster and on site. Event info line is 604-257-8531, or go to www.vancouverparks.ca for more detailed information.

Guided Nature Walk in Hastings Park October 9 at 1:00 pm. The Hastings Park Conservancy hosts monthly nature walks the second Saturday of each month led by naturalist Al Grass. Meet at the south side of the Agrodome. Please leave your dog at home. For information call 604-255-9458.

Sixth Annual Turkey Trot "Fun Run" October 11 at 8:30 am. False Creek Seawall Run beginning at Granville Island. Organized by the Vancouver Sport and Social Club. Phone 604-879-9800.

Kite Flying Tournament at Vanier Park October 16 from 11 am - 3 pm. Organized by the Narrative 360 Society for Documentary Studies. Public is invited to learn to build and fly Afghan kites. Kite making demonstrations by a master Afghan kite maker. Phone 604-215-3630

Walk/Ride for the Disabled October 17 at 11 am. Back Country Horsemen of B.C. present their annual Stanley Park Ride. Meet at Prospect Point . Call 604-574-7631 for information.

The 33rd Annual James Cunningham Memorial Seawall Race October 31 at 9:30 am. Stanley Park Seawall Race organized by the Lions Gate Road Runners beginning at Second Beach. Call the Running Room on Denman Street at 604-684-9771 to register.

Parade of Lost Souls October 30 at 7 pm. An annual neighbourhood celebration. Presented by the Public Dreams Society and Britannia Community Centre. Begins at Grandview Park on Commercial Drive. Phone 604-879-8611.
