Public Invited to Bring Their Old Home Movies
for Inspection and Viewing at "Home Movie Day"
February
11, 2005 (No. 11) - The public
is encouraged to rifle through their attics
and closets, call their relatives and gather
up those precious old family home movies
that document our histories, but are languishing
in storage. Here's the chance many of us
have been waiting for! The Vancouver Park
Board, West
Point Grey Community Centre and the CBC
Television
are
pleased to invite the public to bring in
their old 8mm, Super8 and 16mm films for
inspection and projection.
Local film experts, film buffs and archivists as well as representatives from the Provincial and City Archives will be on hand to assist and offer advice. A film's condition, how and where to find equipment to protect, clean and restore it and how to prepare film for transfer to a digital format will all be explained. Projectors will be available for people to view their films. Historical film footage and photo displays of local interest will also be shown. To book a film evaluation time, please call the West Point Grey Community Centre at 604-257-8140.
